Thornton finishes 10th in Slocum 50 at 34 Raceway
After turning in a top-10 finish at Maquoketa Speedway's Nippy 50 at the end of March, Dylan Thornton returned to the driver's seat of the Kay Motorsports No 38T Late Model over the weekend for a three-race swing with the MARS Late Model Championship Series.
For Thursday’s Hawkeye Land 40 at Cedar County Raceway (Tipton, Iowa), Thornton followed up a consolation victory with a 16th-place finish in the opener.
Action shifted to 34 Raceway (West Burlington, Iowa) on Friday and Saturday for the annual Slocum 50 weekend. Friday’s preliminary proved challenging as Thornton was forced to retire early from the feature after running out of tear-offs mid-race.
However, he rebounded in Saturday’s $10,555-to-win finale. After placing third in his heat race to secure a starting spot in the A-Main, Thornton rolled off from the ninth position and drove a consistent 10th-place finish in the 50-lap affair.
