Dylan Thornton earns SLMR victory at Scotland County Speedway
The Malvern Bank East Series roared to life over the weekend, with Dylan Thornton leading the charge behind the wheel of the Kay Motorsports No. 38T Late Model at Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, Missouri.
Thornton set the tone early by topping the 25-car field in time trials before advancing two positions in his heat race to secure a fourth-place finish. Lining up fifth for the feature, he made his move on lap 12 with a decisive slider on Chad Simpson, taking command and leading the remainder of the 25-lap main event to secure a $3,000 payday—his fourth win of the season.
The victory marked Thornton’s second consecutive Malvern Bank East Series season-opening triumph, following his win in last year’s opener at Stuart International Speedway.
Plans to extend the weekend with an appearance in Saturday’s Karl Chevrolet Pro Late Model Tour event at Independence Motor Speedway were ultimately canceled due to inclement weather.
