Thornton races into the Dairyland Showdown at Mississippi Thunder Speedway
Dylan Thornton traveled north to Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Wisconsin on Friday to compete with the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series during the two-day Dairyland Showdown.
With 44 entries signed in for the event, Thornton’s weekend began with time trials on Friday, but his night ended early after pulling off on the third lap of his heat race.
Saturday brought improved results, as Thornton posted the eighth-fastest time in his qualifying group before finishing third in his heat—earning him a spot in his first World of Outlaws Late Model feature. Starting 16th in the $30,000-to-win A-Main, he ultimately retired on lap 35 but gained valuable experience throughout the weekend.
Thornton’s luck didn’t improve on Monday, as an early exit from his Modified heat race at Clay County Fair Speedway led to him scratching from the 20-lap feature.
