Thornton Crowned Malvern Bank East Series Champion
Clinches $10,000 Title with Six Wins
ORCUTT, Calif. (10/04/25) – Dylan Thornton officially secured the Malvern Bank East Series championship over the weekend as the tour wrapped up its season at Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa.
Thornton kicked off the weekend early with a trip to Cedar County Raceway on Thursday and Friday, competing in the Modified division at the Hoker Trucking Fall Bash.
After a third-place finish in his Thursday B-Main fell short of transferring, he rebounded by qualifying for Friday’s A-Main via a runner-up effort in his consolation race. Starting deep in the field, Thornton advanced to a 16th-place finish in the 30-lap feature.
Back behind the wheel of the Kay Motorsports No. 38T Late Model on Saturday, Thornton entered the SLMR tour finale—the Pumpkin Dash at Adams County Speedway—with a comfortable points lead over Chad Simpson. A fourth-place finish in his heat set the stage for a strong showing in the $5,000-to-win main event, where he charged from 13th to 4th, sealing the deal on the championship.
Thornton closed out the East tour with an impressive stat line: six wins in 17 starts, an average finish of 3.118, and an 84-point cushion over the runner-up in the final standings. In Malvern Bank West Series competition, he notched four victories in just 10 appearances.
